Between Naps (12)

Between naps is a little recap of what we were up to last week and what we're reading this week.

Last Week on the Blog:
2017 Reading Recap Man, was this post ever a pain in the bum to put together!

New Reviews:
♥  Saga Volume 1
♥  Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
♥  The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
♥  America Queen by Sierra Simone

No horror?! I'll have to rectify that soon. I'm still working on some long over-due ARC's though . . .

What We've Been Up To

We are in full hibernation mode after getting pummeled with snow and frigid weather. I swear if I didn't have to work I would not leave the house at all! Bailey here has been loving all of the attention he's been getting being the only dog in the house for the first time ever. He spends most of his day keeping the cats in line and snoozing.

Mr. Kirb's who is nearly 12 (OMG, where did the time go?) prefers to stay out of the way and in his sun-shiny window.

Link Ups

I'm keeping it simple from here on out and am only linking this post up to Caffeinated Reviewer's Sunday Post. I'm a day late but is anyone surprised by this?

Books Bought

All digital this week. These were purchased with my hard earned cash. Splatterpunks is for January's Goodreads Horror Aficionados discussion and I bought The Hematophages because author Brian Keene said it was his best book of the year and because I adored Kozeniewski's Braineater Jones last year. I saw Seeing Double over on Instagram and had to have it.

Splatterpunk Fighting Back by [MacLeod, Bracken, Millard, Adam, Shaw, Matt, Gagliani, WD , Rolfe, Glenn, Curran, Tim, Boden, John, Rufty, Kristopher]The Hematophages by [Kozeniewski, Stephen]Seeing Double by [Runge, Karen]

Freebies grabbed last week. I'm trying to keep it under control :)

Lovienthal Montague Spiritual Detective: A Zombie Novel by [Kasniak, Mark]Closet Full Of Bones by [Aalto, A.J.]

Have you guys read any of these?

What's Distracting Me?

Creep 2: We loved this but we are weird & you must see Creep first to get really creeped out.

New season of Black Mirror. I've seen the first four and haven't found a dud yet. It continues to be dark and surprising.

X-Files: It's back! Last weeks episode (#2) reminded me a little of a Black Mirror episode what with the technology angle and I'm ok with that but I will always prefer a good monster of the week story!

What have you all been up to?!

Comments

  1. Your dog and cat are adorable! I am in full hibernation mode myself and could totally stay inside until winter is over. Too bad my job wouldn't like it. I read All the Best People last year and enjoyed it. I also read Smoke Gets in Your Eyes shortly after its release and loved it. Have a great week!

  5. I want hibernation mode, it's been a bit disappointing that the snow keeps missing us here in Colorado. Your cat and dog have the right idea, stay in and stay warm. Enjoy your new reads.

  6. I'm getting good reading done which is more of a relief than anything else after the end of last year! I'm in hibernation to avoid this nasty flu that is going around.

  7. You know, when our first boxer passed, Barkley (our #2) spent a year as an only dog. I don't regret it although it was a blast when Cooper came along. I think it's what we all needed. I know that you've tremendously added to my TBR lately so apparently you've been doing a lot :)

    1. I haven't had one dog since my first retriever many, many moons ago so it's kind of nice being able to lavish attention on just one. I still have puppy pangs but I know none of us are ready for all that. Especially in the dead of winter!

  8. I have All the Best People to read but haven't gotten to it yet. Hope you enjoy it.
