Netgalley Update



For those concerned about the yes/no button installation outlined in my previous post, Netgalley has chosen to remain silent. In fact, they have removed all comments from their initial blog post and have shut off the comment feature on the post after leaving this vague PR statement:

They have also been deleting comments on their Facebook post and muting their Twitter feed comments regarding reader concerns.

Maybe I've read too much dark fiction, but this does not bode well.

    I'm still not sure what to make of it. Since I'm taking in less ARCs I guess it's not a huge concern for me. Will have to wait and see. That cricket made me laugh. Had one in my bedroom last night and took forever to find him. I expect he's the one chirping outside my window now. LOL

    I wouldn't think much of it but their response makes it so much worse - like there's something sinister going on that they have to hide. Why not just be upfront about whatever they're doing. If they want to make changes - fine. But be transparent and let users decide how to proceed.

    Deleting comments is not cool Netgalley.

    Their response pretty much equates to screw you now shut up and go away. Maybe people need to think about using other versions of Netgalley instead. I HATE companies trying to smother free speech like that.

    I haven't been on Netgalley to see the changes for myself, but I was nervous when I heard what was going on. I'm not a big fan of Netgalley already. This may help me stay away.

I hope you found some time to read last week or were at least able to take some time for yourself.  Recent Reads & Listens  I still have an arc or two to finish up and then I'm reading purely for me. New books, old books, books that catch my eye. If I don't like them I'll be free to toss them. Ahhh, the freedom.
