Books from the Backlog: The Turtle Boy by Kealan Patrick Burke
Carole @ Carole's Random Life In Books has created a fun new feature called Books from the Backlog to spotlight neglected and unloved books that have been sitting on your bookshelf for too long.
If you would like to join in, click the pic above to find out more.
My Neglected Book of the Week will be the second oldest horror novel on my Kindle. This one was purchased on September 27, 2012 and I had no idea I even had it!
The Goodreads Blurbage:
"School is out and summer has begun. For eleven year old Timmy Quinn and his best friend Pete Marshall, the dreary town of Delaware Ohio becomes a place of magic, hidden treasure and discovery. But on the day they encounter a strange young boy sitting on the bank of Myers Pond a pond playground rumor says may hide turtles the size of Buicks everything changes. For it soon becomes apparent that dark secrets abound in the little community, secrets which come cupped in the hands of the dead, and in a heartbeat, Timmy and Petes summer of wonder becomes a season of terror, betrayal and murder. "
Why did I add this book to my tbr pile? I remember people absolutely raving about in on the Horror Aficionados group that I co-moderate at Goodreads. Have you read it?
I think I read Sour Candy by this author and yes, it was very good. (I know that's the book, but am only about 98% correct about the author). I keep meaning to check out more by him.
ReplyDeleteYep, that's another of his that I keep meaning to read.
DeleteThat Turtle Boy cover is creepy af! lol

It's great, isn't it? :)
DeleteThanks for joining in! This is an author that I have really wanted to read. I wonder if I have any of his books hiding in my pile :) I will have to look. I have been having such a good time digging through the books that I already own for this feature. I have found several books that I have multiple copies of....I guess I really want to read those!
ReplyDeleteAh, that happened to me as well. I found four pairs of duplicates!
DeleteOh dang that sounds creepy good.
ReplyDeleteIt does. I really need to get to reading it.
DeleteOh boy. That cover gives me the chills. I hope you'll get a chance to read it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, me too :)
DeleteCreepy cover! I know what you mean...I'm always looking at books and then seeing I already have them and not remembering adding them to my ereaders! I'm not sure what is lurking on there...
ReplyDeleteProbably a whole lot of good stuff!
DeleteI loved this one, and it's the only Timmy Quinn book that I've read. I need to read the rest of them someday.
ReplyDeleteOooo, glad to hear it! I need to get it read before a decade goes by!
