Ladies of Horror Fiction Challenge: Monster, Folklore & Vampires!

The Instagram/Twitter Ladies of Horror Fiction Challenge has been a fantastic success! As of right now our tag has 1,270 posts and that is so much more than any of us anticipated. My co-hosts and I have found so many new books to add to our lists and I hope you guys have found something to add to your lists as well. Thank you to everyone who has been following, commenting and participating through both Instagram & Twitter. We hope to keep the momentum going and spreading the Ladies of Horror Fiction love in the future with more fun events where everyone can participate. Look for more info on that on September 1st! Big love to my co-hosts whose expertise has made this such a terrific event for everyone.  Jen from Book Den , Lilyn G from Sci-Fi & Scary , Toni from The Misadventures of a Reader ,  Alex -   Instagram , Emily  -   Instagram , GracieKat -   blogging @ Scif&Scary , Tracy -   Instagram   Here a...

Tackling The TBR In 2018: The February Winner Is

Image
Michelle @ Because Reading  created and hosts the meme so if you want to join in you can check out the rules  here. I was supposed to do this on Saturday but then again I was supposed to do a lot of things I didn't do on Saturday. Sorry about that. I tend to go off the grid on the weekends. Here are the three random books I grabbed from one of my piles. And the winner is . . . With The Man Who Killed Boys hot on its heels! Sound like two perfect reads for the month of love!  This meme was a fun one, as always.   The review for this book will (hopefully!) be up on February 24th but I can't make any promises as I have two to finish up first and I'm a slowpoke ;) Thank you so much voting everyone! The Rules If You'd Like to Join Next Month The first Saturday is the 3rd  – your post goes up with 3 books you choose. Link it to the linky on  Because Reading . Their post will go up at 5am est.  Link back to th...

Tackling the TBR List in 2018: Time to Vote!

Image
I tried this meme last year and though it was incredibly fun I never revisited it because I spent the rest of the year breaking my promises to myself and reading ARC's and review copies instead of my TBR pile.I hope to change it this year and read at least one book a month from the TBR stacks. Michelle @  Because Reading  created and hosts the meme. Here they are, three actual books randomly plucked from one of my piles. Perfect for the Valentines season, right?!  Please feel free to let me know if any of these are not worth reading! I am determined to learn how to DNF properly. The Books              I actually picked these out for a Twitter post in January and meant to do the meme then because the Twitter-verse wasn't interested in my tbr pile. I did have one vote for Blood Rubies & In Cold Blood.  Click Cover for More About the Books             ...

Tackling the TBR: And the Winner Is (1)

You guys voted, thank you so much!! The choices were: And the book with the most votes . . .  I hope to read it and love it rather than skim it and DNF it but either way I'll be so, so glad to have removed one book from my most ancient of TBR piles! Thanks everyone for taking the time to vote. Here's what I'm doing & when I'm doing it: ♥  Saturday Feb 3:   I post my picks, you lovely people vote ♥   Saturday Feb 10: I post the winning book & get to reading because I am a slowpoke! ♥   Saturday Feb 18: When everyone else doing this starts reading. ♥   Saturday Feb 24: Post my review (OMG, the deadline looms so close!) & host a little US   giveaway for Snow by Ronald Malfi To join in the fun next month visit  Because Reading   the first Saturday of March. All of the rules are  here.

Tackling the To Be Read List (1)

I was going to create a little feature where I'd have you vote on my next TBR book because I am still determined to read at least one of them this year but someone else beat me to it. This works perfectly for lazy me because now I can just sign up for Michelle @ Because Reading's meme instead! If you want to join all of the rules are here. I grabbed three random books from the top of the most embarrassing pile. So, what do you think I should read (or attempt to read) next? Let me know in the little poll down below. Also, please feel free to let me know if these are not worth reading! Remember this is the year of the DNF (at least for me!). Night Shift by Lilith Saintcrow 3.76 Rating @ Goodreads Jill Kismet. Dealer in Dark Things. Spiritual Exterminator. Demon Slayer. Not everyone can take on the things that go bump in the night. Not everyone tries. But Jill Kismet is not just anyone. She's a Hunter, trained by the best - and in over her hea...
