Got My Eye On In October

Please try to ignore the font inconsistency on this post. Blogger does what it wants and I have no energy to mess with Blogger today.

I saw a post over at Mailbox Monday that was encouraging readers to share their best finds of the week via their Books That Caught Our Eye posts. I love, love, love that idea so this is my warped version of it.

Here are the books I've added to the very top my wishlist with credit to my enablers :) I haven't had nearly enough time and energy to do my daily blog rounds these past few weeks but I did manage to add a few more books to the wishlist.

The Last Dog on Earth by Adrian J. Walker
Every dog has its day…

And for Lineker, a happy go lucky mongrel from Peckham, the day the world ends is his: finally a chance to prove to his owner just how loyal he can be.

Reg, an agoraphobic writer with an obsession for nineties football, plans to wait out the impending doom in his second floor flat, hiding himself away from the riots outside.

But when an abandoned orphan shows up in the stairwell of their building, Reg and Lineker must brave the outside in order to save not only the child, but themselves…

I spotted this book on Barb's Stacking the Shelves post and have to snag a copy for myself.

Stray Magic by [Bouchard, Jackie]
GoodReads
Stray Magic by Jackie Bouchard
Cara Snow is newly divorced, stuck working for a jerky boss at a pet boutique, and dreading her soon-to-be-empty nest with only her beloved corgi for company. Worse still, her ex just got engaged. Doesn’t she deserve some romance, too? Or, at least a date for the Fur Ball. She’s always enjoyed the annual pet rescue gala, but this year her ex will be there with his fiancée. Meanwhile, Cara hasn’t met anyone— other than the irresistible dogs at the boutique’s adoption events.

Cara is shocked when her wish to fall for a man as easily as she does for those mutts summons Vincent. His velour track suit, paunchy belly, and tough-guy accent don't exactly fit her childhood image of a fairy godfather. Not exactly on top of his game, he admits to being twenty-five years late. (Her daughter Winnie is convinced he must be there for her!) Vincent does his best and casts a spell "guaranteed" to help Cara find the One. But when she actually starts meeting men, none of them are her type. If only they were as perfect for her as the dogs they adopt. Did her screw-up fairy godfather botch the spell? If so, what will it mean not only for Cara but Vincent as well?

From USA Today best-selling author Jackie Bouchard, comes a tale of love, laughter, and the profound magic of believing in yourself.
"She writes awesome characters - humans and dogs and you just HAVE to meet Vincent!!!!" ~ Booker T

And Barb's adorable pal BookerT made me place this one the list! Their site is a dangerous place for my wallet.

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins
Scream meets YA in this hotly-anticipated new novel from the bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss.

One-by-one, the students of Osborne High are dying in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, the dark secrets among them must finally be confronted.

International bestselling author Stephanie Perkins returns with a fresh take on the classic teen slasher story that’s fun, quick-witted, and completely impossible to put down.
"There’s Someone Inside Your House proves that an idea doesn’t have to be original for it to be a crapload of fun. ." ~ Kelly
I'm not the biggest fan of YA but this sounds like one I can get into and if Kelly says it's a good one that means I'll most definitely love it.

White Bodies by Jane Robins
GoodReads
White Bodies by Jane Robins
This chilling psychological suspense novel--think Strangers on a Train for the modern age--explores the dark side of love and the unbreakable ties that bind two sisters together.

Felix and Tilda seem like the perfect couple: young and in love, a financier and a beautiful up-and-coming starlet. But behind their flawless facade, not everything is as it seems.

Callie, Tilda's unassuming twin, has watched her sister visibly shrink under Felix's domineering love. She has looked on silently as Tilda stopped working, nearly stopped eating, and turned into a neat freak, with mugs wrapped in Saran Wrap and suspicious syringes hidden in the bathroom trash. She knows about Felix's uncontrollable rages, and has seen the bruises on the white skin of her sister's arms.

Worried about the psychological hold that Felix seems to have over Tilda, Callie joins an Internet support group for victims of abuse and their friends. However, things spiral out of control and she starts to doubt her own judgment when one of her new acquaintances is killed by an abusive man. And then suddenly Felix dies--or was he murdered?

A page-turning work of suspense that announces a stunning new voice in fiction, White Bodies will change the way you think about obsession, love, and the violence we inflict on one another--and ourselves.

"Callie has some issues though..when she was growing up she wanted some of Tilda's shine to come her way and so she devised ways for that to happen. Including swallowing some..ah well you'll have to read it. " ~ Shelby @ Goodreads

  2. Thanks for the shout-out and Booker T and I are willing and able to enable you at anytime. I've seen a few people talking about White Bodies and I really think I'm going to check it out. I also HATE it when blogger font misbehaves. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
