The DNF's (because not every book is for everybody)

I read over half of The Nightcrawler before calling it a day. It just wasn't holding my attention no matter how hard I tried but maybe it will hold yours? As for Dandelion Wine? Well, my DNF of this classic just goes to prove that I have dreadful taste. I found it incredibly beautiful but also incredibly meandering and dull. Please don't murder me in my sleep.

At first glance it appears that I was a super lazy blogger in September and though that is very true I have also been working on several big projects. One was a master list of horror reviewers that I collected from input from the community. You can see it here, if you missed it https://barksbooknonsense.blogspot.com/p/an-easy-guide-to-locating-horror.html If you're missing from the list and want to be added let me know on the horror reviewer post.

The other ongoing project is the Ladies of Horror Fiction. You've probably seen us posting our hashtag around the internets. Several of us horror bloggers have joined together to create the Instagram challenge, a website which spotlights women in horror and also includes a master list of women horror fiction writers. We have so many plans for the future including a podcast and our first community readalong. Please join us in November as we all read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier! It's going to be a blast. Click on the pic below for the details.

So, what are you all up to?

  1. I think you had a great month. I need to see what exactly I did read in September as I have to admit, I'm somewhat behind on reviews. I do plan on participating in the Rebecca readalong and I love what you guys have been doing on your site. May you have an awesome spooky reading month!

    1. I have to write my reviews as soon as I finish or it all leaves my head and I have to reread the book. This just happened with McCammon's THE LISTENER. I'll be reading it again for review because I adored it and it won't be a chore :) I'm so glad you're joining us for Rebecca! And, you too, have a spooky reading month!

  2. You worked really hard on those projects Bark! I'm still hoping to get a couple of new friends out of that horror list though no luck so far! This month I'm reviewing all horror and scary books plus reading a ton of horror that I'm so excited about!

    1. Boo on the lack of new friends :( I've discovered that many people post to their blogs and kind of walk away from the posts. I do that sometimes when I get busy but never for long. I always try to get back to them and return visit. That's the whole point of the blog for me. Anyway, I look forward to your month of horror!!

  4. September was a great reading month for me. I wasn't just going through a pile - I actually enjoyed most of the books! lol

You guys are doing a great job with the LoHF. Once I get through my October arc's I hope to get back to my own books again.

    1. I know the feeling. I still have a few too many review copies and haven't made a dent in my tbr pile in months :( I always break my promises to myself.

    1. Thanks, Carole! It was a decent month but I'd love to be one of those people who can read a book a day or every other day instead of dragging them out for a week :(
