TBR Thursday (5)

This year I plan to read more books and do less social media time wasting. So far I am doing okay but I have to admit it is tough to ween myself off the internet. They're not kidding when they say that stuff is addictive! I am feeling noticeably better about the state of the universe the less I use it even if I find its siren call difficult to ignore sometimes. Anyhow, I hope you're all starting the year off with a good book!

Here's what's up next in my reading life (always subject to change based on mood and general flakiness):

Next up on audio is RITUALISTIC HUMAN SACRIFICE by C.V. Hunt. I have a copy on audio that the narrator sent me. I LOVED Cockblock and am anxious to read all of her work now.

I still haven't read this one. *yikes* So . . .  soonish I'll be reading HOW TO SURVIVE A HORROR MOVIE by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Currently Reading:

THE TWISTED ONES by T. Kingfisher is my current read. I have about 80 pages left to go and so far it is a fantastic tale of folk horror. It's creepy and the heroine has a great sense of humor and a redbone coonhoon  companion (just like my Bailey!) who is as much a character as any of the others in the book. The Ladies of Horror Fiction group over at Goodreads are reading this throughout the month of January and if you'd like to join in the discussion here's the jump link:  https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/21017118

What's up next for you?

  1. I'll be honest-I'm no social media fan. I don't really bother with it and wouldn't bother if it ceased to exist! Most of my activity is on my blog and a bit of Goodreads a couple of times a week!

    1. There is so much anger, resentment and jealousy out there on the socials. Lots of ugly feelings. There is also good but some days it feels all bad. I don't blame you for steering clear of it.

  2. I tend to be on Twitter a lot and FB some times. I gave myself a schedule to try and visit blogs and comment first, then some social media and then read a book at least 3 times a week. So far so good.

    1. That's a great schedule! I set my phone to shut off all social media apps after an hour & 1/2. So far that mostly works. Sometimes I beg it for more time and fall into a hole though!

  3. I know there's a lot less anxiety in my life when I'm not paying attention to other people's opinions, fears, worries, rants, etc. Book blogs are happier places to be! :D BTW, I love the sound of The Twisted Ones and How to Survive a Horror Movie.

    1. This is so true. Twitter gives me some major anxiety and I feel like the world is all negative. It's not a good place to spend too much time. Blogs are much more pleasant!

  5. I used to get drawn into the social media for hours at a time. Now I'm so busy that it's easy to not get caught up in it. Loving these books and have them on my list now!

  7. I skim SM throughout the day but I don't stayed glued to it all day like I used to. You realize after awhile that it's just a rage machine. All the things you waste your energy on blow over just to start a new uproar. I give up lol

  9. Eeek! I still need to read the Horror Movie book, too. It should be a fun one, though.

  10. Social media is the devil! That being said, I do spend some time on it but I really try to stay out of any drama. I think you have some good looking books ahead of you!

    1. It really is the devil. There is always fresh and recycled drama. It's such a time suck.

  11. I need to hurry up and get to The Twisted Ones!! I also need to do the same as you and cut back social media time. I spend so much time pointlessly scrolling...
