My Top 9 of 2020

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm not making any resolutions this year because I have no idea what this new year may bring. The only plan I have is to read more for me, less for everyone else. That means no more ARC's, no more Netgalley, and no more review submissions. 2021 is going to be the year of reading selfishly! I hope you'll join me.

I had a slow year of reading, as most of us did, due to the constant upheaval and stress of 2020 and my usual difficulties concentrating but I did manage to finish 57 books so I'll take that as an accomplishment! Here are some of the books I enjoyed the most in no particular order. The V.C. Andrews was a reread from my childhood. Of course, it's not perfect but I loved it still! It's amazing when a book can hold up like that!

Have you read any of these great books?

  1. I keep hearing great things about Mexican Gothic & The Only Good Indians. I just nabbed an ARC of My Heart Is a Chainsaw, so I've got my first Stephen Graham Jones read coming up.

  2. Yay for you for reading selfishly this year! :D That's a great reading goal. I haven't set any goals reading or otherwise this year. Maybe if things ever return to normal. But until then...

    1. Yeah, I'm happy if I can read at all. This is most definitely not the year of lofty goals for me!

  3. I love hearing that you're reading whatever you want this year! Betty and The Only Good Indians were two of my favorite books of the year too, it's funny that they are both pretty painful to read. I guess I needed some pain in my reading last year:-/

  8. Betty and Red, White, & Royal Blue were fabulous reads. I have all of my old VC Andrews books and really need to give them a reread sometime soon. The Only Good Indians and Mexican Gothic are both sitting on my shelf just waiting for some attention.

I love your plan for this year. I need to think about doing something like what you are planning this year.

    1. We all need to do it for ourselves. Be selfish. Read what you want! Stay away from Netgalley!! If only I would listen to myself, haha.
