New Books This Week! This is where I spotlight the sparkling new releases that are tempting me so you can succumb to temptation too. The focus will be on dark fiction and romance with the occasional thriller tossed in that catches my eye.  Is it just me, or is it extremely hard to focus on sitting down and typing when the weather warms up? I've been reading a bunch but doing anything else book-related seems to be impossible. Anyhow, here are a few books that look super good that have been released since the last time I checked (May 15ish) Mid May-Mid June 2026 The Dorians by Nick Cutter - May 19, 2026 On a remote island in the Canadian wilderness, five elderly volunteers from different walks of life are given a tantalizing offer: to stall their biological clocks or even reverse them, restoring their lost youth. The chance to put death on pause—forever, perhaps. The remarkable secret lies in the high-tech harnessing...

Love and Other Conspiracies by Mallory Marlowe | Contemporary Romance Mini Review

This was such a fun romance especially for an X-Files fan. My 2 Cents for Free! Love and Other Conspiracies by Mallory Marlowe Released August 2024 Source: Library Borrow See more @  Goodreads This was adorable and I would read these types of romances all day, every day if I could find more. It's fun, it's sweet, it's super cute and it has the Mulder/Scully dynamic going for it from the first meeting. The third act scared me because I despise that kind of thing (I'm being vague so not spoilering this review) but it's short lived, thank all the gods and dogs. There's also a cat here named Cthulu. Books need more of those, imo. I'd recommend reading it if you want something light and fun and who doesn't need a little bit of both? Final Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐1/2 Publisher Plot Synopsis  The hardest thing for a paranormal conspiracy theorist and a web series producer to believe in is finding love in this swoony debut romantic comedy. Hallie Barrett's life has i...

New Books Because You Know You Deserve Them! This is where I spotlight the sparkling new weekly releases that are tempting me so you can succumb to temptation too. The focus will be on dark fiction and romance with the occasional thriller tossed in that catches my eye. Every week there seems to be more and more book releases and this week is no exception. Will I find time to read all of them? Highly unlikely but I'll try to read a bunch before 2026 is over. First the  HORROR and HORRORish   because it'll always be my first love. A Veritable Household Pet by Viggy Parr Hampton Darla Gregory received a lobotomy at 11 years old ... and she was never the same. Based on painfully true history, mixed with family drama, complex characters, and a gut-punch twist. [Scribe’s This is my sister Darla’s story, as dictated to me. I have tried to remain as faithful to her diction and voice as I can, while also making it intelligible and coherent. Darla has progressed cons...
