This book was so good I didn't want it to end. Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough Thriller Released January 2017 Amazon  ♦  Goodreads Louise is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare night out, she meets a man in a bar and sparks fly. Though he leaves after they kiss, she’s thrilled she finally connected with someone. When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The man from the bar. The very married man from the bar…who says the kiss was a terrible mistake but who still can’t keep his eyes off Louise. And then Louise bumps into Adele, who’s new to town and in need of a friend, but she also just happens to be married to David. David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife, but then why is David so controlling, and why is Adele so scared of him? We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough | Horror Fiction

The one where the people are almost worse than any lingering supernatural threat 🙀 My 2 Cents for Free! We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough Released May 2025 Source: Kindle Unlimited Get it at your local library or see more @  Goodreads If you're in the mood to read about horrible people with ugly secrets, hurting each other with their secrets and lies as they navigate life in a possibly haunted home, have I ever got a recommendation for you! Emily is recovering from a fall from a cliff and an extended hospital stay. While she was out cold in the hospital her husband Freddie decided to move them away from city life and their friends into an old sprawling country home. A home so old and fancy it has its own name, Larkin Lodge. You know that spells trouble, right? Why on earth this guy thought doing such a thing would be a good idea because Emily maybe mentioned moving a time or two is beyond me, but some people just aren't very bright ( later: turns out he had a very selfish ...

Got My Eye On (10)

Image
I saw a post over at  Mailbox Monday  that was encouraging readers to share their best finds of the week via their  Books That Caught Our Eye  posts. I love, love, love that idea so this is my warped version of it. This was getting a little unwieldy and making me look a little like a hoarder (ahem) so I'm going to do my best to keep these down to three. It's going to be hard for me but it must be done. I've already blown up my Ipad due to fullness and had to restore the thing to factory settings. Here are the three books I've added to my wishlist over the last week with credit to my enablers :) Be sure and visit them if you want more excellent recommendations and have some room left on your reader. Kristen @ Metaphors & Moonlight   Amazon ♦ Goodreads Swallow You Whole by Jasper Black  (Fantasy/Humor) For two villainous nobles, it is a desperate means to an end. For two clever demons...it is one hell of a tax break. Henry an...

Cross Her Heart by Sarah Pinborough Review

Image
Hmmm, perhaps I was expecting too much. Cross Her Heart by Sarah Pinborough Dark Fiction Released September 2018 Amazon  |  Goodreads  | Better World Books Lisa lives for her daughter Ava, her job, and her best friend Marilyn, but when a handsome client shows an interest in her, Lisa starts daydreaming about sharing her life with him too. Maybe she’s ready now. Maybe she can trust again. Maybe it's time to let her terrifying secret past go. Then her daughter rescues a boy from drowning and their pictures are all over the news for everyone to see. Lisa's world explodes, and she finds everything she has built threatened. Not knowing whom she can trust, it's up to her to face her past to save what she holds dear. My Thoughts: Behind Her Eyes by this same author was a five star read for me (and yep, I LOVED that ending) but this one was not. I’m giving it a three and that makes me sad because I was so looking forward to another amazingly nasty little ...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 🎄 My 2 Cents for Free! Hark! The Herald Angels Scream edited by Christopher Golden Released October 2018 Source: Purchased Get it at your local library or see more @  Goodreads This was a bit of a mixed bag with many of the stories lacking in the scary Christmasy feelings I was expecting but there were a few standouts worth checking out. Absinthe and Angels by Kelley Armstrong A couple are spending a quiet Christmas at a remote cabin here when they hear a knock at the door. This was super creepy and filled with nightmare fuel. It was a great start to the collection and is definitely worth a read. Christmas in Barcelona by Scott Smith A tired couple with a new baby head out for a vacation they booked when they were still childless. Now they’re rethinking things because everything that could add stress to the trip has happened. Screaming baby, lost bags, no food, etc. and so on. When they arrive at their destination, the husband decides to wander a...
