Taking A Little Break Because I'm Burning Out

Image
Hi everyone, I'm going to be taking a little break here at the blog because I feel burnout nipping at my heels. I have been having a lot of back pain, so much lingering sadness from the loss of my Buddy and now I seem to have lost the will to pick up a book. I think that is 100% because I have kept none of the promises I made to myself back in January . I've been reading ARC's, contest wins, book group reads and basically everything except the books piled up all around my home. I also can't seem to find a blogging groove. I have spurts of busyness and then I lose the enthusiasm and have to drag myself to the screen. I'll still be visiting around and will hopefully have more time to do so now that I'm not trying to squeeze too much into a day. You might see sporadic posts now and again but there will be no schedule (so, what else is new?!). I am also closed to any review submissions. I need to be completely selfish for awhile and spend some serious time healing ...

Bookishfirst Turns Out To Be Kind of Fun

Image
I won this book from Bookishfirst , Netgalley's sister site for readers. I'm thrilled to receive a real book as a win but I honestly wasn't expecting to win anything and, crap, now I have three weeks to get it read!! I don't know if I can handle the pressure. Patrick is unconcerned.     For those who don't know, Bookishfirst features excerpts of a handful of upcoming releases. They ask that you read any that tickles your fancy and write a review of the excerpt and then you'll get tossed into a lottery to win the actual book. If you win, you have three weeks to write the review (yikes, the stress!). You will get points for any excerpt you read and any reviews you submit and when you gather enough points you can choose a free book. I thought this was a very strange new thing (who the heck reviews excerpts? and why do they want reviews of them anyway?) but I'm curious and nosy and signed on to see what it was all about. At first I thought this was ...

Audible Introduces An "All You Can Eat" Romance Subscription Plan

Image
Audible:   https://www.audible.com/ep/Romance-Package?source_code=SNGGBWS1031170027 The cost:  $14.95 or $6.95 for KU & Audible subscribers. That sounds like a great deal to me and I am interested. I've always thought that Audible charges way too much for a book credit. Supposedly this streaming catalog includes 10,000 romances and you can listen to as many as you can consume.    Update from Audible:   T his service would be similar to Kindle Unlimited and you would be able to borrow up to ten books at a time and keep them for as long as you want. You can also swap them out whenever you are ready.   Sounds intriguing and I say FINALLY and friggin' yay (and we need one for horror) but the articles coming out today are pissing me off. Apparently Audible has added a new feature that allows one to type in terms to bring you to the good parts; sexy bits, witty banter, etc. It sounds unnecessary and like click-bait to me but it's brought out...
