Between Naps, April 2018 (2)

Between naps is a little recap of what we been up to recently on and outside of the blog.

What We've Been Up To

We've been doing yard work (ugh) and cleaning the basement/garage in preparation for our next phase of home improvements (maybe a library, eventually!) so there's been no searching for fun old horror novels lately.  Maybe I can talk him into it this weekend . . .
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33670466-paperbacks-from-hell?from_search=true

So, zero books found :(

But I did manage to sneak into Goodwill on my way home from work the other day and found this little gem for a buck! It has an ugly corner bend but hey, it was a buck and it's one of the Bentley Little books that I do not own.

As a little reward for all of the crappy home-ownership hell-work I've been forced to do on my time off I bought myself this after seeing it on Twitter thanks to Lilyn @ scifiandscary. Isn't it spectacular? You can find one at Amazon US if you're a weirdo like me and have to have it :)  They run pretty true to size but I haven't washed it yet so I don't know if it shrinks.

It finally warmed up for a day and a little outside reading happened after I raked for a million hours!

September (in the front) and Patrick shared a nap on the same couch and blood was not shed. She was pissed with his far too close proximity however. She's like me and doesn't hide her emotions very well!

Link Ups

I'm keeping it simple from here on out and am only linking this post up to Caffeinated Reviewer's Sunday Post. Link yourself up and make some new blogging friends!

All this and the new Noctural Reader's Box has arrived with 3 more books! I'll whip up a post some time next week.

What's Distracting Me?

The Strangers from 2008. Somehow I missed this one way back when but it still packs a punch 10 years later. I won't ever watch it again though because damn it's bleak. I hear they're making a new one soon.I don't know if I want to see it.

Currently & What's Next

Next up because it came in from Overdrive & I am on a time crunch (ahhh!)

I've been working on this one for over a week and am only about 100 pages in. My lack of real reading time is seriously depressing.

I still haven't read this one!!!

So, what have you all been up to?!

  1. Oh goodness, I love your new shirt. That is awesome. A library would be awesome.

    1. That shirt sure got some weird looks this weekend, lol. I'm hoping for a library but in reality it will likely be a man cave with walls of books and a drum set smack in the middle but I'm ok with that as long as I can see and play with my books instead of digging them out of bins.

  2. Love that shirt even if I am not a huge cat person...lol. I am like you with Paperbacks from Hell, it's like I want to find all these cool old books! :) Hope you get to hunting for them this week!

    1. I'm so mad at myself (well at my mother really) for getting rid of my books when I was a teen. I had so many of those :(

  3. A home library, that would be awesome! Cute shirt lol. Sparrow Man! The third book lost me a bit, but I'm hoping the fourth pick get good again since the first two were so unique and great!

  4. Ooh a library would be awesome. I wish I had a room I could use for one, but not at the moment. And cool shirt too!

Lol about the cats. Sounds like ours :)

  5. If I could find a dog version of that It T-Shirt I'd grab it! I've been working on one book for 3 weeks now so you're doing better than me! It isn't stopping me from grabbing freebies either...My dad and I are now planning a total deep clean and reorganisation of the entire house which we're not looking forward to but it really needs to be done instead of doing little bits and pieces! Groan!

    1. Ugh, that plan of your dad's sounds terrible!!! I need to do that stuff in small stretches or I lose the will to live.

  6. That shirt is awesome but like Chuckles, I need a dog version. I thought The Nocturnal Readers Box was great this month but Mr. Barb likes it better when there are t-shirts in them - I pass them on to him so he can share in the fun. Plus he wears tees all the time at the gym. Good luck with the cleaning and I agree, home improvements can suck the life right out of you. I hope to finish Dread Nation this week as well as read some more on Outpost, which I am really enjoying!

    1. I'll go on a search for a dog version and if I find a good one I'll let you guys know first :) I'm with Mr. Barb. I don't wear hats and much prefer the tees. Maybe next month.

  7. That shirt is awesome, Laurie! I used to go to thrift stores to look at books all the time. I haven't done that for a while which might be a good thing but it is always amazing what you can find if you happen to look at the right time. Have a great week!

    1. Yeah, it really is all about luck being on your side. We didn't get to go this weekend but maybe next if I nag him enough!

  8. Aw, I missed out on a Gilchrist freebie? Lilyn says it's a really great read.

    1. I'm sorry you missed it. I'll try to remember to post good finds on Twitter too because they end so quickly. I'll have to bump this one up in queue if Lilyn says its good!
